Your donation makes a difference and goes far in helping the Santa Monica Animal Shelter!

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and partners we have been able to help the Santa Monica Animal Shelter in many ways. Animals often arrive at the Shelter in need of necessary veterinary care and we regularly contribute funds to help the Santa Monica Animal Shelter cover the cost of this care. In February 2023, we raised the funds needed to help Luna, a very sweet dog who arrived at the Shelter with a problem with her left eye. We were able to help her visit an eye specialist and then have the surgery she needed to remove her left eye. In June & July 2023 we helped cover the cost of necessary surgeries for several dogs: Bluey, Caramela and Friday. We are extremely thankful for all the donations that allow us to help these animals.

We have helped the Shelter with many facility improvements and upgrades such as purchasing 25 new dog beds and a new washbasin. We contributed $25,000 to create a proper turfed space for the dogs at the Shelter, learn more about the space here.

We also step in as needed to help the animals by purchasing special supplies as needed, such as medicine, kitten food and hamster food and items for their cage.

Help us renovate and upgrade the Cat ISO Room

In 2024 we are looking to raise the funds needed to upgrade and renovate the cat ISO room. The Santa Monica Animal Shelter is in need of a proper space where they can care for all the cats and kittens that arrive at the shelter. The current space is inadequate and must be renovated. We are hoping to raise as much as we can to help make this space a reality.

Some of the necessary improvements to the space include:

  • Painting the room with a special paint that can be cleaned

  • All new cages that are designed for a cat isolation space

  • Ventilation system

The renovation project is going to be a costly undertaking, with an estimated cost of $100k. But it is a vital shelter improvement. Many of the cats and kittens that arrive at the shelter are in need of extra and advanced veterinary care and might need months of extra care before they are available for adoption. Renovating this space is essential to help the shelter provide care for the cats and kittens that arrive at the shelter.

Help complete the turfed play & enrichment space

Update, October 2023, the turf has been laid and the dogs are loving the new space!

The Santa Monica Animal Shelter is in need of necessary facility upgrades and improvements. The first of these larger projects that we fundraised for was to create a proper turfed play and enrichment space for the dogs at the shelter. The bid was over $32,000 just to lay turf in the space, the area is approx. 1700 sq feet. Thanks to the generous donations we received, including a $10,000 contribution from the City of Santa Monica Mayor Gleam Davis and the Santa Monica City Council which jump started our fundraising efforts, in October of 2023 we shared $25,000 with the shelter to create the new space.

But we still need your help to complete the space. We need to add sun coverage, seating and engaging activities for the dogs. It is very important that the dogs at the shelter have a space where they can have the necessary physical activity, and stimulation, they need to help them from becoming anxious or stressed. The shelter does not currently have a space like this of this size. Many dogs at the shelter wait for months, some over a year, to be adopted, and this new space will greatly help their well-being while they are waiting for their forever home.
