Help us renovate and upgrade the Cat ISO Room

Update February 2026

The Cat ISO Room renovation project has begun! The entire space is being renovated to create a proper Cat ISO Room. Dry wall is currently being installed, along with new electrical. Once complete, the walls and the floor will be painted with special paint that can be easily cleaned, a heat/cooling unit installed and the ceiling tiles and doors will all be replaced. The final stage will be installing special cages that are designed for use in a cat ISO room and any other additional items needed to make this room the best it can be.

The renovation is being funded entirely by your donations and is estimated to be around $50k. We began raising funds for this project in 2023 and have worked very hard to make this renovation possible. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has donated and helped make this needed space a reality. This project is the second large shelter improvement project that we have raised the funds for, the first being a proper turfed play space for the dogs.

About the Project

The Santa Monica Animal Shelter is in need of a proper space where they can care for all the cats and kittens that arrive at the shelter. The current space is inadequate and must be renovated. The project is going to be a costly undertaking, but it is a vital shelter improvement. We are hoping to raise as much as we can to help make this space a reality. Many of the cats and kittens that arrive at the shelter are in need of extra and advanced veterinary care and might need months of extra care before they are available for adoption. Renovating this space is essential to help the shelter provide care for the cats and kittens that arrive at the shelter.
